Uganda Export Promotion Board is an institution that was established by the Government of Uganda to help you get started and facilitate your export business. This role is executed in many different ways including providing export business information, facilitating product and market development, offering guidance on export rules and regulation plus product promotion. We offer, free-of-charge, information and guidance about the target export markets - requirements, rules & regulations, players and competent authorities etc. Our services for new and/or potential exporters focus on providing market and business information - including capacity building.

Our Trade Information Division provides one-on-one counseling and guidance to new exporters - to guide them through the decision making process, information on the new markets and potential buyers. We also provide information and support in identifying and dealing with suppliers and service providers.

Our Export Market Development Division has several programs that help exporters develop exportable products and getting these products into the new market.

Export Requirements

Before you start exporting, you must;
  1. Have duly registered the business entity with URSB and URA (TIN No.)
  2. Obtain an Export License, if you intend to trade in a controlled product. These include Coffee, Fish, Animal & Animal Products, Minerals, Timber & Wildlife
  3. Register with UEPB and MAAIF, if you intend export Fresh Fruits & Vegetables (part of compliance with Phytosanitary requirements)
  4. Obtain applicable Quality Assurance Certification & Marks from UNBS, if you intend to export a processed or manufactured products.
At the time of export, for each shipment you must;
  1. Prepare a Commercial Invoice and Packing List
  2. Obtain a Certificate of Origin (General or Preferential)
  3. Obtain a Phytosanitary Certificate from MAAIF, if you are exporting unprocessed agricultural products
  4. Obtain a Movement Permit, if you are exporting Live Animals
