Export Week 2016

What was it all about?

Uganda Export Promotion Board organized the Export Week 2016 under the theme "Export - to attain middle income status by 2020". This took place from 5th - 9th December 2016. The objective was to create awareness and appreciation on the relevance of exports to the development of the country and showcase what has been done so far. It was also meantto encourage the business community to get into exporting. The week included a series of events;

  • An Export Walk - on 5 December 2016
  • A 5-day Exhibition at the UMA Conference Hall
  • The Annual Exporters' Conference - on 7 December 2016
  • The Presidents' Export Award 2016 Dinner Gala - on 8 December 2016
The Presidents' Export Award 2016 Dinner Gala held at Imperial Royale Hotel was the climax of the week. This is an annual event hosted under the patronage of H.E The President of Uganda although this time round he was represented by the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister - Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda, seen in the picture above handing over the Ambassador of the Year Award to the Deputy High Commissioner on behalf of H.E John Chrysostom Alintuma Nsambu, High Commissioner to Ottawa - Canada. Over (thirty) 30 companies were awarded with Gold and Silver Awards in the various award categories
